CA Articleship Resume Sample for Big 4 and Mid-Size Firms

Short answer: lead with your CA level and the work you did in articleship, then the firm and the dates on the deed. "CA Inter | Statutory audit, GST, Excel" tells a Big 4 or a mid-size firm where to place you. "Aspiring Chartered Accountant seeking a challenging articleship" does not.

Practical training is 3 years if you started under the old scheme, and 2 years under ICAI's new scheme. Industrial training, where you do it, is 9 to 12 months inside that period. Write the dates on your articleship deed. Do not shorten a 3-year deed to 2 years because the new scheme is shorter.

What firms look for

Campus and firm screens for articleship, and for semi-qualified roles after it, cluster on a few facts:

CA Foundation or CA Intermediate, and whether a group is cleared or the attempt is pending
Class 10 and class 12 marks, often with a cutoff
Domain: statutory audit, internal audit, direct tax, GST, or a mix
Tools: Excel, Tally, SAP, CaseWare, or the firm's own audit software
The industries you sat on, without naming a client you are not allowed to name

Put the domain in a bullet about a real assignment. A skills row that says "statutory audit" while every bullet says "assisted in various assignments" does not tell them what you touched.

Headline: CA Intermediate (both groups) | Statutory audit, GST workings, Excel

Summary: CA Intermediate, both groups cleared in May 2025. Articled assistant at a mid-size firm since July 2025, on statutory audits of trading and manufacturing clients. Looking for a transfer or a semi-qualified audit role after the deed dates.

Change the attempt, the month, and the industries. If Group II is still open, write "CA Intermediate, Group I cleared, May 2025". "CA Inter" alone reads as both groups to a lot of recruiters. "CA Finalist" means you are eligible for Final, not that you have passed it.

Articled Assistant, Kapoor & Co., Chartered Accountants, Pune Jul 2025 to present

On the statutory audit of two trading clients: vouching, bank reconciliation, and lead schedules in Excel.
Prepared GST workings and tied them to the books for a manufacturing client.
Drafted queries for the engagement manager. Tracked which ones the client closed.

This firm is an example. Use your principal's firm name as it appears on the deed.

A weak line, rewritten

Before: Assisted the team in audit and taxation assignments.

After: On the statutory audit of two trading clients: vouching, bank reconciliation, and lead schedules in Excel.

The second line can be searched for statutory audit, vouching, and bank reconciliation. It also gives an interviewer something to ask that you can answer.

Education block

Articleship applications still want school marks. Write them as on the marksheet. How to do that is in 10th and 12th marks on a resume.

If B.Com is in progress, write "B.Com, pursuing, expected 2027" and do not invent a percentage. Rank or AIR only if the result says so.

Big 4 and industrial training

If the deed is with Deloitte, PwC, EY, or KPMG, use the member firm's name and the city. Add the service line you were staffed on: audit, tax, or risk. A rotation belongs as its own dated line when it was long enough to describe, not as four logos in the summary.

Industrial training is a second entry, with the company, the dates, and the function (internal audit, controllership, plant accounts). It does not replace the articleship entry. The articleship dates still have to cover the deed, minus the industrial training period your deed records.

Software claims should be the tools you opened on a job: Excel, Tally, SAP, CaseWare, Aura, or whatever the team used. A tool from a coaching institute's demo is not a skill on this resume.

After articleship

For a semi-qualified or accountant role, the headline drops "seeking articleship" and names the work: "Semi-qualified CA | Statutory audit, GST, month-end support". Bullets stay tied to clients you can discuss. Leave out a client's name when the firm treats it as confidential, and keep the industry and the task.

Accounting screens in India filter on GST, TDS, Tally, and the CA status written precisely. Those filters are the same ones on the accountant resume checker.

One page

An articleship resume fits on one page: headline, a three-line summary, the deed entry, education with 10th and 12th, and a short skills line. No photo, no objective paragraph, no "team player". Layout rules are in the fresher resume format and the ATS resume template.

Check the file

Upload it to the ATS resume checker. Confirm the firm, the deed dates, and the CA level came out as separate facts, and that "CA Inter" on the resume is the same status you will select on the firm's form.
